Emily Ryan.

I found this seller, Emily Ryan, on Etsy today. She is an independent designer in Portland, Oregon. I am in love. These shapes might not be the most flattering for me, but they are beautiful! I love the drafting skills and how creative and sculptural the pieces are. check it out:

Another blog?

I'm an iphone junky now, and sadly I can't blog easily on it to this account. I've decided to keep this one for bigger ideas, and post my everyday thoughts and pictures on tumblr.

Check me at:

Knitting.

As soon as the weather cools off I grab for my knitting needles- a week later I'm usually over it.
Not this year! I'm planning to actually learn some more! This year I taught myself increasing and decreasing, changing colours and adding patterns and today I learned a cable stitch!!
Here it is:

but can anyone tell me why my edges curl so badly?

And if you haven't seen all my pictures on facebook, this is my new kittie and VERY good knitting helper; Mookie.

Organizing.

I've been trying to get my life organized. Storage is my key to success, so I've been finding a home for everything. Today I worked on my sewing stuff; built a $45 book shelf from home depot, found a place for my vintage sewing patterns and folded and put away a whole bunch of fabric.
My front entrance is all finished (except... maybe I want a floor length mirror....)

Note my lady lamp and my horse poster :)

some fabric....

It's like the top drawers were made for patterns!
I have been given tons of vintage patterns, what great references,

Most of them are from the mid 60's- late 80's. so fun!

Bookshelf isn't full yet, but has lots of sewing/drafting and fashion info!

Bird house.

When I got back to Nova Scotia this summer I got to the beach as often as I could. On one trip to Martinique Beach with Brent I found some pretty birdhouses for sale on the East Petpeswick Road.
Cost? Honour system of leaving $5 in a bin. Sold!

Martinique Beach

New home for the bird house :)

Lovely lady lamps.

I found these 2 lamps ages ago at my favourite antique store in Halifax, Urban Cottage. (1819 Granville St). I loved them so much, each has 3 lovely Grecian ladies. I gave them a complete face lift; white gloss paint, new wiring, new harps, and new shades.

Here's the change of one of them :)

Living room.

So my place is slowing, but surely coming together.
I spend a lot of time in my living room, and it's getting very comfortable!
I'm leaving one area unphotographed because I want to wait until my TV is mounted on the wall and my vintage lamps are rewired!! Couldn't wait to show you the rest though. I'm also having camera issues, so you get iphone pics....

This is my front enterance:

This is currently what my kitchen looks like, should have a mircowave by the end of the day!!

Painted Ceilings.

About time for a new post!!
I'll try to keep my promise to share more with you.

I'm totally into the idea of a painted ceiling right now. Maybe this could brighten up my blah kitchen?

This is so neat!

But who am I kidding, I still have to paint my bathroom and hang wallpaper in my bedroom! (and one million other things...)

Bitch Plates.

This would be in response to miss Kate's blog post: http://wp.me/pLshp-eE

Kate, I would have picked some of these up for you to eat bitchy bundt cakes and cupcakes(etc) off of, except, I'm selfish and poor and could only get my hands on 4 of them. lol, you'll have to make due with the mental image of me eating bitchy bundt cakes and cupcakes off of them.

I told my Mom about these plates. Mom says: Can I borrow them?

haha

Good old Urban Outfitters!

BYOW.

Bring your own wine.... it's something I always thought of as expensive and pretentious but luckily I stumbled onto a useful site today:
http://www.bringmywine.ca/

Lets you know the corkage fees for 100's of restaurants in Toronto, as well as across Canada (Even lots in Halifax!)

Check em out, there are tons that are only $10 fees (some for free too in T.O!) Makes it easy to enjoy a nice wine with dinner without breaking the bank!

Who's down for bringing some wine to Jane's On The Common?? yes pleaseeeee!

Jeff Friesen. updated!

It's no secret I'm completely addicted to Etsy.com. I've made some prettty fab purchases so far this year, and a couple more I'll post to show off as soon as they get to me!
This is something I haven't purchased YET. I stumbled on Jeff Friesen's work while I was looking on Etsy's Shop Local for Halifax. I love this guy's sense of humour!

Jeff is a Halifax based photographer. His etsy shop has a series of "Wild Life Prints". They are so clever, fun and beautiful.

I put a couple of my favourites together on photoshop to show you, and I was being REALLY picky to choose the ones I loved best. Narrowing it down to 12 isn't bad is it?

I'm planning on buying 4 prints, but I'm having trouble deciding. I know I want the lion for sure :)

But Seriously guys, check out his stuff!!

This is his Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/WildLifePrints

UPDATE:
Thanks to some of my loyal blog followers (hehe), I recieved 3 of these prints for my birthday! I just purchased the Lion and recieved it today, along with a bonus print with 2 bunnies!! I love them! They really brighten up my grey powder room.
Thank you!!
My bunnies! I just need to find a good home for them:)

trying my best to skip the country...

I'm stuck in Vancouver. I flew Toronto-Vancouver with no problems other than a splitting headache. I got off in Vancouver for a short walk then reboarded. When we were about to push back the pilot informed us there was a problem with a fuel pump. 3 hours later they tell us it can't be fixed that night, bummer. 3am Vancouver=6am Toronto, and Julia had no sleep... I may have had a slight breakdown at this point. haha. Air Canada got everyone hotel rooms and I ended up at the Delta in a lovely room. I woke up this morning only to find my flight was delayed again from 11am to 2pm. At least I had a nice view from my hotel room.

here's a couple pics from my lovely send off at the Jays game.
